If you're like me then WHO ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE? *coughs* You may also be a regular listener to the terrific new Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie radio programme on the ever reliable (unless Lauren's on) 6Music every weekday between 1pm and 4pm.
I've long been a fan of the pair but rarely remembered to listen to their evening show on Radio 2 thanks to a mixture of idiocy and dozing off every time a long woolly folk track came on. So this new slot is manna from heaven for the stay at home writing depressive type and I've been introduced to all sorts of tracks new and old with a particularly enjoyable session / interview with Adam Goldberg occurring on this Monday gone.
For those who may have clicked the above video already and muttered through the admittedly annoying first minute before it starts proper may recognize this Goldberg chap as Eddie, the weird flatmate Chandler got in Friends when Joey moved out back in the early, funny days. (If only they'd repeat it so people could check...) He's also been in stuff as varied as Saving Private Ryan, My Name Is Earl and the Flaming Lips' long-in-the-making opus "Christmas On Mars".
Indeed, Steven Drozd from that band has collaborated with Goldberg several times although is seemingly absent from this new self-titled album which today's choice cut "Shush" is taken from. Its a weird mix of Belle and Sebastian style cute pop and odd rock workouts with nothing quite as good as this single but certainly worth an ear if you can find it on your Spottlfies and the like. Merry Shushmas!
